To mark the inaugural Anime film fest, we were asked to create an identity and opening sting to communicate the excitement and discovery for old and new audiences.
We had to make it a very simple concept as time and $£ were slim. This informed the minimalist concept from the white infinity space to the girl being rendered in a single pencil line - often the biggest constrains can make for the most interesting creative solve.
She is the avatar for the audience members new to Anime, approaching the cinema screen with excitement and apprehension. Then upon reaching into it, she is transformed into the endless possible characters and stories to be found in an exhaustive universe.
It went through many versions and met several dead ends, especially the final beat after she finally leaps into the screen. We just kept boiling it down again and again until it was time to print and send.
We are very proud of this scruffy little piece of fantasy.
